Being a German company, the Handbook does come across as written by Germans (even though the tone and style are not as dry as some German textbooks). There are the rare typos and grammatical errors, and passages and expressions that make more sense in German than in English. Of course, the Handbook is quite Euro-centric. North American and Asian perspectives are often lacking. Product placements from Bosch and its affiliates are also commonplace. Watch out for the Bosch logo in the diagrams!

I am mostly an “engine” guy, so I am more interested in the engine and fuel sides of things. I do notice that quite a lot things that have been mentioned in one section will show up verbatim in another section. I don’t know if this is also the case for the rest of the book. It is hard to say if this is a good thing. Repetition might be a better alternative than flipping through the pages.

Despite some minor issues, the Bosch Handbook is still the definitive guide for this topic. This is a must-have for those who are serious automotives.
