This is the kind of dvd you want to look at from time to time. The commentaries are very good, movie quality is excellent. I couldn't imagine they would be able to make you live so close to what happened in the old days.

Vintage video footage - even on the 1950s cars is amazing. No the video quality isn't great from 40 years ago; nor is the audio. Even digital remastering of that type of footage can probably only be taken so far. But amazing to watch the views from the "dashboard" cameras. Overall car "sound" is great and hypnotic - the giftee only complained of no "smell" for the race fuel!

This is an incredible DVD. While I ordered it for my husband's birthday, I think I have watched it more than he has. Every Formula One fan must see this to fully appreciate the sport and art of Formula One.

I bought this based on the good reviews posted here on Amazon but was very disapointed. While it was great to see legendary racers like Hill and Stewart, the quality was not as good as I was expecting and I would have liked to see more modern day in car camera work (which of course is far superior to old time strap a camera on the car technology) that details the great tracks in F1.

Overall this is an entertaining video. I would have liked more material from the 50's and 60's but seeing as the film technology was not highly developed back then it makes sense that the early footage is minimal.

The scenes of Fangio power sliding a big front engined F1 car are worth the price of the whole disc but like many special interest videos it's something I'd watch once or twice and likely never view again.
